FAQs

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient medical practice developed over thousands of years in China and throughout Asia. The use of acupuncture is based on theories of energy flow in the human body Just as there are channels in the body for blood to move, and channels for nerves to travel, there are channels for energy to flow. It is these channels of energy that are accessed with acupuncture, by inserting extremely thin needles into the body's tissues at specific points, to stimulate Energy, or 'Qi'. Acupuncture, when practiced by a licensed Acupuncturist, is a safe and effective way of shifting the body towards healing.

THE NEEDLES USED ARE STERILIZED AND DISPOSED OF AFTER ONE USE.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Like a bug bite at worst! Most people feel little to nothing at all. Two general sensations can be felt. The first is the insertion, which is almost instantaneous and at worst feels like a bug bite. The second sensation is incredibly varied, personal, and hard to describe. It is called a 'Qi' Sensation and may be like warmth, cold, itchiness, or any other physical sensation at the point of insertion or down the channel of energy in another part of the body. These sensations can be awkward because they are new, however the are rarely uncomfortable.
